Year 4's 'Saxon King' unit was brought to life in their Anglo-Saxon day at school.
They learnt about different aspects of Anglo-Saxon life, including clothing, food and the different weapons they used. Each child used a flint to try to create a small spark, as this was how the Saxons would light fires.
They also became a human timeline dating events from 500BC, during the time of the Celts, to the Edwardians in 1900s. They learnt that the Anglo-Saxon times were known as the dark ages. All the children painted a shield with a Saxon pattern which was used for the reenactment of the Battle of Hastings.
The children had a fantastic day and learnt so much about the life of an Anglo-Saxon.
