The visit to Laches Wood finally arrived. We were welcomed by some fantastic weather, it’s a good job we had the sun cream. First we had some free time to explore the site and took a guided tour with Mr CJ.
First thing was to sort out the bedrooms and make our beds which was the first challenge.
Lunch was great, a picnic in the glorious sunshine.
Next we were put into our groups and started our first activities of the day. Caving, biking, archery and orienteering. This was a challenge for some but we all had a go and persevered!
Evening meal was fabulous and much needed ready for the next activity. Mr Smith set up a campfire in the woods, he asked lots of challenging questions but wow, Ajai was so knowledgable about bushcraft. Mr Smith was so impressed.
Toasting marshmellows on the fire was the next activity, it was pretty delicious to be honest. In fact there were a few Bear Grylls in the class! This was followed by a scavenger hunt in the woods which proved pretty tricky but everyone found most items.
Last stop of the day was the classroom for a well-deserved hot chocolate. Day 2 sounds like it’s going to be pretty eventful too so it’s an early night for everyone including the teachers!
