Year 4 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Dudley Canal and Tunnel trust, we were able to experience the day in the life of a child during the industrial revolution. We learnt how terribly children were treated and how they had to go to work from the age of just 5 years old. Travelling through the dark caverns we could experience the cramped and dark conditions and realise how good children have things now. A small selection of children were given the responsibility of legging the boat this allowed us to make it back to dry land. After the activity on the canal we went into the classroom and enjoyed a map and coordinate activity where as a class we found some pirate treasure. Our penultimate activity was working as a team to create our own ship which we were able to race in the mini canal. Our day ended with the opportunity to look around the gift shop and then a quiz where we could show off all the new knowledge we learnt during the day. A fantastic day had by all and a massive thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust.
